Why use Brophy Knight?

Training excellence: Whether you’re looking for a firm to help you ‘do the books’, build a solid business strategy or help you compete with New Zealand’s best-in-class businesses, you’ll want to know that your accounting team knows what they’re talking about. That’s why Brophy Knight is proactive about the continuing education of our staff. Proactive to the point of mildly obsessive some might say. But that means not only has all of your Chartered Accounting team done their mandated 30 hours of continuing professional development training every year. But that they’ve also brought their new knowledge back to the firm and formally shared it with the rest of us. Having a relatively large staff also means that we can collectively cover a wider range of topics than smaller firms, and have more than one specialist across any key topic at any one time. So there’s always someone here who’s in the know.

Resourcing expertise: There are two key mantras in the office ‘Get the job done right’ and ‘Don’t leave anyone in the lurch’. What’s that got to do with resourcing you may ask? Well, firstly, it means that we’ll structure your team correctly to keep costs at a reasonable level. So, where appropriate, junior staff will complete the easier tasks, but their work will always be checked by senior team members. Secondly, it means that we always have at least two people across any given job. So, if someone is on leave, there is still a team member in the office who knows what to do. We also understand the value of continuity, and within reason, try to make sure the same jobs get done by the same team members each year.

Networking know-how: Brophy Knight is a member of NZCA, which is a New Zealand wide group of independent Chartered Accounting firms. Okay look, there’s no need to yawn. Why this matters is that we can easily contact our network within the other member firms with requests. So, in cases where specialist agreements, forms, or general queries do come up that we haven’t seen before, we’re almost guaranteed to know someone else who has. And we can contact them and share resources, which avoids us having to “reinvent the wheel”. Which saves us time and money.
